Strong Foot Traffic Growth Drives Retail Gains – Australian Sales Up 3.3% YoY in June

Comparison Period: The following insights are based on comparing the five-week retail month of June this year (26 May – 29 June 2025) to the same period last year (27 May – 30 June 2024).
Foot Traffic Trends:
- Passer-by traffic continued its positive momentum, growing 5.2% YoY in June. This marks the seventh consecutive month of YoY growth.
- Inside traffic increased an impressive 7.6% YoY in June. While inside traffic was up in every quarter of FY25, the June quarter was the strongest, with a 4.4% YoY growth.
- For the full FY25 year, inside traffic was up 1.5% compared to FY24.
Sales Conversion Performance:
- Sales conversion has its weakest month of FY25, declining 5.4% YoY. The quarter overall was down 3.7% YoY.
- Despite the dip in conversion, transaction volumes rose 1.7% YoY in June, supported by the strong inside traffic growth.
Average Transaction Values (ATVs):
- ATVs grew 1.6% YoY in June and averaged +1.7% YoY over the quarter.
Sales Performance:
- Overall sales grew 3.3% YoY in June and were up 2.3% over the quarter.
- Australian retail saw growth in every quarter this year, with the January-March quarter leading at 2.8% YoY.
