Comparison Period: The following insights are based on comparing the four-week retail month of May this year (28 Apr – 25 May 2025) to the same period last year (29 Apr – 26 May 2024).
Foot Traffic Trends:
- Passer-by traffic grew an impressive 7.9% YoY in May, compared with +3.7% over the last three months.
- Passer-by traffic was up 12.1% YoY in the week of Mother’s Day, reflecting strong retail demand.
- Inside traffic was up 5.7% YoY in May, compared with +2.3% over the last three months.
Sales Conversion Performance:
- Sales conversion continues to remain weak, down 4.1% YoY in May (-1.9% over the last three months).
- Whilst foot traffic was strong during the week of Mother’s Day, sales conversion was still well down on last year (-3.9% YoY).
Average Transaction Values (ATVs):
- ATVs grew 2.6% YoY in May and averaged +1.8% YoY over the last three months.
Sales Performance:
- Overall sales grew an impressive 3.9% YoY in May (+2.2% YoY over the last three months).
- Sales were particularly strong the week of Mother’s Day (+8.6% YoY).
