SEVEN WEEK RUN OF POSITIVE INSIDE STORE TRAFFIC ENDS

  • Passer-by traffic has had a second week of more significant declines, down 9.4% YoY this week after a decline of 8.2% YoY last week
  • Despite continued strength in shopfront conversion (up 10.0% YoY), it was not enough to sustain the positive growth of inside store traffic which declined 0.4% YoY this week (following 7 weeks of positive growth)
  • Inside traffic in Queensland and Western Australia showed positive growth this week (up 2.7% and 7.1% YoY respectively) while Victoria and NSW saw declines (down 4.4% and 1.3% respectively)
  • Sales were down 5.0% YoY this week, despite average transaction values being up 3.2%.  Sales growth was positive in the Watch & Jewellery and Health and Beauty categories. Super Shopping Centres in metro areas also saw strong growth up 8.7% YoY
