Today we launched an updated version of the Kepler Retail Market Index

  • We have launched an updated version of our Kepler Retail Market IndexIt now includes more than ever before with a 10% increase in stores and a 30% increase in Benchmark Groups, resulting in some movement in historical figures.  This update is now accessible to all our existing Kepler Retail Index customers.
  • The difficult trading conditions we have seen in the first two weeks of March continued again this weekPasser-by Traffic was down 9.1% YoY (down 12.4% versus 2022)Continued growth in Shopfront Conversion (up 9.8% YoY) largely offset the lower Passer-by Traffic resulting in Inside Traffic being flat.
  • Declines in Sales Conversion Rate (down 4.0% YoY) and Average Transaction Value (down 1.9% YoY) drove a decline in Sales of 6.1% YoY (down 8.1% versus 2022)
  • NSW was the strongest performing State with sales up 2.4% YoY.  Regional areas also had stronger performance compared with major capital cities.
  • One of the new Benchmark Groups is Retailer Average Transaction Value tierThis week high ATV brands (> $150 ATV) experienced well above average sales declines of 12.7% YoY.
