Discover key insights in the latest KRI (Kepler Retail Index) update for the week ending 21/01/2024
Stronger traffic but weaker sales conversion and ATV adversely impacting sales
- Passer-By Traffic was better than trend last week (down only 4.2% YoY compared with an average of 9.0% down in Q4 2023)
- Strong shopfront conversion (up 9.1% YoY) combined with the relatively strong Passer-By Traffic resulted in Inside Store Traffic being up 4.5% (now in positive territory for two weeks in a row)
- Health and Beauty retailers continue to perform strongly (sales up 8% YoY) while General Merc. and Electronics retailers continue to struggle (sales down 14% YoY). Outlets was the only channel that was in growth this week
