Solid November result was tarnished by a disappointing start to December trade, with sales down 11.1%. 

• November saw sales down 6.3% across the month, the smallest monthly decline since May this year, driven by the strong Black Friday trading period.
• Retailer pessimism, which we saw increase last week, continued this week with sales expected to be down 11.5%.
• Passer-by traffic continues to remain suppressed, down double digits for the third week in a row.
• Actual sales for the first full trading week of December were down 11.1%, with better performance for outlet stores (sales down 1.2%) and CBD stores (sales down 4.9%).
• Categories which performed above average this week were women’s clothing, health and beauty.
